Kootenai Hike

Adam, Emmet, Nyala, and I went on our first hike up Kootenai creek a few weeks ago after Elaine and Conrad left. Emmet chose to where another fine outfit from Grandma Elaine, a lumberjack shirt and black cords. He looked right at home in the Montana wilderness.
Emmet takes the Dad steed for a ride!
Emmet LOVES throwing rocks.
Nyala waded in to the creek and one time accidentally went under, poor chilly puppy!
We stopped in an area that people had built lots of rock cairns, let's just say that there were not as many "towers" when we left.

Looks like you had a little wildfire action at the trailhead, eh? See, Montana isn't so great. We don't get wildfires in Maryland.

Although those rocks by the stream are really beautiful. we seem to have lots of shale and schist. Sedimentary as opposed to your metamorphic, one might say. And I love the boots on E man. Sweet.

Somewhere in Lolo National Forest in Kootenai Canyon, someone is lost because he can't locate his cairns....
