Emmet the bibliophile

Emmet has developed a love of being read to and "reading". This morning he patiently sat through the readings of his four favorite books (at least his favorite books that are read to him, he has other favorites to be discussed later in the post), "I know an old lady who swallowed a fly" (by far the number one fav), "Where the wild things are", "Goodnight moon", and "Hop on Pop". He snuggles in next to me and listens, and talks and points his way through the books. He loves to point out and id the red balloon, the moon, wa was (water), bird, kitty, dog, cow and more. His favorite book to pull off the shelves in the reading room is "The Thai Phrasebook"! He loves it, I often find it in has wagon or the cargo hold of the rocket or the firetruck. Emmet, can you say "Sawasdee kap"?
He even climbs into the big reading chair and flips through books, and tries to learn Thai through osmosis.

And just the other day I found Emmet making off with a copy of Watership Down in his firetruck.

He requests books by pointing to the books in the coffee table and says "book book". He signs more to let you know he wants you to turn the page and keep reading. On a different note, he has mastered the sign for help (and can say help) and requests it often. Of course very often I have no idea what he wants help with. He has also taken to signing "more" without providing any context clue as to what he wants more of, although he usually will point it out if asked.
