Zion!!!

Emmet has the whole week of Thanksgiving off from school. Two years ago we went camping in Yosemite with our pop-up camper for the holiday.
We cooked a turkey in a Dutch over and heated a can of gravy with coals.
Yummy bubbly goodness!
Look how little the boys were!
Emmet four...
And Sawyer two.
Look how easy it is for Adam to hold them both.

We had such fun on this trip we decided to make it a tradition ... However, in 2012 we had a five week old so we stayed home.  When Turkeyday 2013 rolled around we decided to go Zion National Park.

This time we had three kids, one of whom is one. We also went for six nights instead of three. When Emmet was one we would not drive for more than four hours in a day around his two naps.... Poor Ranger had to endure ... Much much more, I don't even want to think about it.

Here we are all loaded up.
I really wanted to bring our bikes. I did some internet sluething and decided on a dual receiver hitch.... Turned out pretty sketchy with bikes so close to propane tanks, but they made it!

On the drive we stopped at the Mad Greek in Baker for gyros and a chocolate milk race between Emmet and Sawyer.
And the walmart in  Mesquite NV for shoes for Emmet who somehow loaded himself into the family fun mobile in Spider-man slippers! A week at Zion in slippers!
We passed Jean Dry Lake where Adam and I worked during our Vegas field biology days.

The sun set as we drove through the Virgin River Gorge in Arizona and into Utah.
We arrived at our campsite after dark, set up and hit the hay.
